Ugh!!!!

I just can't bring myself to kill the blog....

I spent the last weekend at Midwest Masters Weekend with Joyce Williams, Lizbeth Upitis, Lorna Miser, Lily Chin, Debbie New and Sharen Costello. And a zillion very interesting and cool knitters.

What an amazing weekend!

Inspiring. Encouraging. Stimulating. Challenging. Fun.

It was the best time I've had in ages.

I now know how to knit back backwards. And which way I should carry my yarn so my fair isle patterns will *pop*. I know how to do a long tail cast on without running out of thread, and if I do, I know how to fix that too without ripping out my cast on. I learned what a teleidoscope is and how to use it (groovy baby). I learned fabulous swatching tips. I cannot even begin to write about the million and one things I learned this weekend!

So now I have to find a way to get to Stitches Midwest!!! (grin)

I love Joyce Williams and Lizbeth Upitis. They teach so well together!! I gleaned so much from their classes. Out of my 4 classes, 3 were with them. They are a riot, and an infinite wealth of knowledge. I want to be just like them when I grow up.

Lorna Miser (and here)(founder of Lorna's Laces) blew me out of the water. She is a kindred spirit, I got to spend some time knitting with her on Saturday night. And I bought 5 skeins of her yarn. I started a sock with it and I am hooked for life!!! (I know she sold the company 2 years ago, but I still love it.)

Lily was an interesting teacher. That girl is an entertainer! She was incredibly organized. And an amazing teacher. Anyone can learn from her. I would love to take her classes just to observe her teaching methods (let alone learn all those amazing tips and tricks!!!) Not only is she the world's fastest crocheter, I'll bet she holds a record for the worlds fastest talker too! (grin)

Debbie New. I can't verbalize my feelings for this woman. I tried to tell her how much I admired her and her work. I'm sure she thinks she has a new stalker. I was effusive, and I think I came off a little awestruck. I might have babbled. I might have spoken incoherently. I might have drooled on her Tiffany Vest. I can't believe I didn't sign up for any of her classes. It might be one of my top ten regrets in life.

I didn't meet Sharon Costello. I walked into her workroom. Two women were laying plastic over their feather- weight scarves. One of them might have been her. I asked if I could look at the work and they completely ignored me. So I don't know if I met her or not (grin). I can say that the scarves were breathtaking. I would've liked to been a fly on the wall in that class.

Yarns by Design did it again. What an amazing weekend. This fall they will have Cat Bordhi (author of A Treasury of Magical Knitting), Lucy Neatby (teaching some cool sock classes of course), and Chris Bylsma. I might have to go then too.

Oooo, and I got to meet Vicki in person, we were in every class together. She is very cool, make sure to check out her blog! It was so nice to meet a fellow blogger, I hope to knit in person with Vicki again!
